Time out…

May 5th, 2006 by Steve Bridger filed under News

After five solid months of trabajando hasta las horas de la noche, burning the midnight oil, scouring the wires, trying to write coherently and accurately about the post-Wilma recovery, I needed to take a break; re-charge the batteries. That’s all it is tough, a time out.

Again, a big thank you to all those who have helped make this blog what it is. You may notice that there is no one on this long list from the Mexico Tourism Board. Despite frequent emails to over thirty individuals in Mexico City and Quintana Roo, not one of them felt the need to acknowledge this work.

As always, email me with your thoughts on how to improve this website going forward.

I check your site everyday because we’re going to Cancun in August and you’ve always had the best pictures of up-to-date beaches, hotels and what-not and I’ve missed you for the last couple of weeks! I’m glad you’re back and I will enjoy all news and pictures you inspire! Thanks for returning!

Steve, Your dedication to Cancun news and Wilma recovery is the best I’ve found on the web. Gracias Steve and we all hope you are feeling renewed again soon. Your site offers a wealth of information.

Congratulations on a job done well.

Whatever the future is for afterwilma.info, you have set a benchmark from which other newsy tourism portals will be measured. This is citizen journalism and commons-based peer production at its finest. Kudos!

Great site, Steve. Thanks for all the work you’ve put in. Our family fell in love with Isla Holbox last year, and your site was our one connection to the recovery in that part of Mexico. What we read here gave us confidence to book our second visit, and we were very impressed by how well the island has recovered. Lets hope the gulf gives all of these wonderful people a well deserved break from hurricanes this year.

Hey Steve, Just wanted to tell you how much I have appreciated your website. It has been wonderful to be able to track the progress that the hard working people of Cancun have made after such unbelievable destruction.

My two daughters and I have just returned from a week on the beach at the Oasis Cancun and it was wonderful. The only real difference that we saw was the heartbreaking loss of trees and vegetation. Astounding progress is being made on the repair of buildings and landscape. As always we were greeted by warm and friendly people.

We can hardly wait for next years trip!
